The Man with the Golden Collection
Every once in a while, you happen across someone or something that is so dialed into what is desirable, that you have to stop and take note. In my case, several of them. This is what happened when I visited Exotic World Motor Cars of Addison, Texas near Dallas.
My journey began when I was looking for an air-cooled Porsche 911 to shoot and possibly test drive for a later blog. CAFFEINE GT is visiting the great state of Texas and you know me... I always find a way to shoot a rare or exciting set of wheels.

Is Rallycross the Goldie Locks of Driving? Motorsport Tourism: Part 3
Author's Note: While the Porsche in the feature image isn't a rallycross car, it's well known that 911s have been used throughout its extensive history for rally racing. The air-cooled 930, 964 and 993 were particularly capable due to their light weight, mechanical resilience and short, agile wheelbase. But I digress. The real reason I featured it is because it's one of my favourite photographs I've taken over the years and the paint-job matched the title of this post perfectly. If high speed road course driving is like ballet, autocross driving is like twerking. I'm no expert in ballet or twerking, but I have seen both up close (a long time ago... cough cough) and I have some completely opinionated opinions about both, which allow me to draw some semi useful comparisons.
In my previous blog, I discussed the amount of preparation, balance and finesse it takes...
Get off the road! Motorsport Tourism: Part 1
Enjoying your passion in the long run - Part 3
The road to hell is paved with good intensions. And so it is in the car world.
The third question I think every enthusiast or future enthusiast should ask themselves is "Am I doing this for me?". The easy answer is typically yes. But the VIP-ish status that certain cars can give you becomes addicting in fairly short order. It can become difficult to know when you're keeping that ride of yours for the admiration, ego boosts and access it garners or if you're keeping it because it truly makes you happy to drive and that it fits your needs.
